I use fabric and threads as my medium instead of paper and paint… and I use a sewing machine instead of a brush.
The texture, colour and prints of fabrics thrown together with threads fascinate me and often give me inspiration for a new design.
I very seldom draw out a design, but let the fabrics and textures determine my next step. While I work towards an idea I try to avoid any definite image of the completed piece, because the complex nature of fabric often reveals surprises that give unexpected changes of direction and exciting results.
Most of my designs are influenced by my love of the Australian Landscape, the unique animals, fauna and fish. I am driven by colour and strive to find that special combinations that has the WOW! Factor.
I work from my studio in the beautiful seaside village of Urunga on the mid north coast of Australia. My fibre art pictures are available from galleries around Australia.
I am very fortunate to have the support of my family, my husband Wayne, sons Luke, Dean and Ben all help out in some way to make it all possible.
The encouragement and support from my parents Dot and Ralph has always been 100% and a special group of friends that give me inner strength, friendship and their business wisdom whenever I need it, I am truly blessed.
